ABOUT TORCHED PEAKS MAPS

We are a small team of outdoor enthusiasts that live and breathe for mountain adventures. As an independent brand located in Lake Tahoe, we love the mountains we call home and we started Torched Peaks as a way to commemorate great times on our favorite mountains. Learn more about our products and Our Story.

Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of supplying art to prominent ski areas, pro athletes, ski and snowboard manufacturers, and die-hard skiers and snowboarders across North America.

Our artists are pioneers in the world of wooden ski trail maps. The concept was sparked in 2015 by our founder and lead ski map artist, who, while admiring vintage ski trail maps, envisioned something unique. With a background as a professional snowboarder and years of experience designing trails in the ski industry, his passion for ski resorts runs deep. Seeking a way to bring the beauty of his favorite resorts into his own home, he realized that traditional ski map art was limited to posters or canvas prints. The idea for handcrafted, wooden ski maps was born, offering a fresh and unique way for people to
celebrate their passion for skiing and snowboarding.

Great question! Each of our maps consist of 6-10 separate layers of wood. Other ski trail maps on the market are posters, digital prints, or laser-etched maps that are rendered onto plywood. Our unique 'layered' approach transforms traditional ski maps into visually captivating 3D works of art.

Not only is our team passionate about skiing, snowboarding, and the mountains, our lead designer is a former professional snowboarder and has a decade of experience designing actual ski trails at a ski resort. This experience helps our art come to life when analyzing a ski resorts layout, topography, and landmarks. We make every effort to include as much info as possible and the level of detail is unmatched.

All of our wood ski trail maps are created by using a combination of maps, satellite imagery, and analysis of the resorts general topography.

Once our artists create a one-dimensional rendering, the artwork is then cut and 'layered' to enhance the resorts peaks and contours. These intricate and complex design files are then sent to laser technicians where natural wood is cut and engraved.

Each resort consists of 6-10 separate layers and each piece is then hand assembled (think 3D puzzle!) to create the finished product.

Absolutely! All of our products are designed in Lake Tahoe and are 100% made in the U.S.A.!

We are constantly adding new resorts to our collection. If you don't see the resort you are looking for, in most cases we can make it from scratch.

If you'd like to learn more and/or pre-order a resort that's currently not on our website, please email us and include the resort you are interested in creating. Contact us for more info >
