Ski Maps Reimagined: The Birth of the Wooden Ski Trail Map

Posted by Torched Peaks on

Our artists are the pioneers of wooden ski trail maps, bringing a fresh twist to the classic ski map. The original concept for the first wooden ski map was the brainchild of our founder, who came up with the idea all the way back in 2015.

Initial rendering of one of the first wooden ski trail mapsWhile admiring vintage ski posters of his favorite resorts, he realized that ski-themed art was limited to traditional options like ski posters and canvas prints. In a quest to decorate his home with artwork that was more refined, he envisioned something unique and the concept of laser-cut, wooden ski maps was born!

Inspired by a desire to create something both artistic and meaningful, he reimagined ski resort maps, but using wood as his canvas. With years of experience designing trails while working in the ski industry, including a period as a professional snowboarder, his understanding of what makes ski resorts tick helped to hone the artwork and steer the initial concepts.

After years of hard work and refinement, the result is a line of premium, wooden ski maps that go beyond simple decoration—they’re a thoughtful tribute to the mountains you love, blending the art of design with the soul of skiing. A fresh approach to ski map art—one that allows ski and snowboard enthusiasts to proudly display their passion in a way that’s as unique as the mountains themselves.
