From our basecamp on the east shore of Lake Tahoe, every ski map is thoughtfully designed and handcrafted in the United States using layered wood construction and traditional woodworking techniques. Every peak, trail, and ridgeline is carefully recreated to produce artwork that is intricate, timeless, and built to last for generation.

FOUNDER | MAP ARTIST
Long before founding Torched Peaks, Shawn Orecchio spent decades helping shape the mountains he loved. What began with a wooden Burton snowboard in 1984 evolved into a lifetime in the ski industry—from early snowboarding and competition to designing ski trails, shaping mountain experiences, and working behind the scenes at the resorts that inspired Torched Peaks.
Those decades created something more than experience. They shaped a belief that the mountains defining our lives deserve artwork worthy of the memories they hold.

CARTOGRAPHY.
Every mountain begins with extensive research using trail maps, satellite imagery, and local knowledge before the first design takes shape.
SKI MAP DESIGN.
Through our SlopeTheory™ process, up to 40 hours of research, design, and refinement transforms each resort into artwork that captures its unique character—not just its trails. Every detail has a purpose. Rather than simply gluing elements to the map surface, we integrate them into the overall composition, allowing the natural wood grain to become part of the art. The result is a more elegant, refined interpretation of the mountain.

Our signature AlpineStrata™ process builds dimensional mountain art from precision-cut layers of premium, hand-selected natural wood, transforming traditional ski maps into heirloom-quality artwork designed to celebrate the mountains that shape our lives.

Each map is precision laser cut, then meticulously hand assembled from hundreds of individual wooden pieces that bring every mountain to life.
