The Mountains That Stay With Us.

Some mountains become more than destinations. They become traditions, friendships, family trips, powder days, and chapters of our lives. Whether it's the resort where you learned to ski, your annual pilgrimage west, or the mountain you call home, these are the places that stay with us long after the snow melts.

Frequently asked questions about ski resort wall art.

Ski resort wall art is a form of mountain-inspired décor that transforms ski destinations into visual artwork for the home or cabin. Often referred to as wood ski signs or wooden ski maps, these pieces celebrate iconic mountain resorts through handcrafted design and natural materials. At Torched Peaks, our ski resort wall art is individually crafted in layered wood to create a dimensional 3D interpretation of your favorite mountains—unlike flat posters or prints. Learn more about how our ski maps are made

Unlike traditional ski posters, digital prints, or surface-etched and laser-engraved wood maps, Torched Peaks creates original, dimensional artwork built from multiple layers of natural wood. Each mountain is researched and hand-designed using our SlopeTheory™ process, then constructed from 4–10 layers of natural wood using our AlpineStrata™ process to create genuine physical terrain, elevation, and depth.

Unique to Torched Peaks, AlpineStrata™ Inlay recesses the white ski trails into the mountain rather than placing them on top of the wood layers. This allows the surrounding wooded terrain and tree islands to remain physically raised—much like ski trails cutting through an actual mountainside.

Combined with the extensive mountain-specific details incorporated throughout the artwork, the result is more than a reproduction of a ski trail map. It's a handcrafted interpretation of the mountain itself.

Each Torched Peaks map begins with our SlopeTheory™ design process—extensive research into the mountain's terrain, trail network, lifts, landmarks, and surrounding geography. We study resort trail maps, satellite imagery, topographic references, photos, videos, and local knowledge to understand not only the layout of the mountain, but the details skiers and snowboarders actually recognize.

Maps include ski trails and difficulty ratings, mountain statistics and elevations, chairlifts and gondolas, lodges and villages, roads, parking areas, and important landmarks and points of interest. Look closer and you'll find skier and snowboarder icons marking notable terrain, including popular groomers, mogul runs, glades, terrain parks, race trails, extreme terrain, backcountry routes, and local hidden gems. Chairlift and gondola icons even reflect the type and capacity of the actual lift.

Whenever applicable, we also plot hiking, mountain biking, Nordic, and snowshoe trails, along with activity-specific icons. Native wildlife and birds, mountain operations features, base areas, warming huts, and other regional details help capture the individual character of each resort. And hidden somewhere on every map is a Torched Peaks Yeti.

Those details come from people who actually understand ski resort layouts and operations. Our team includes lifelong skiers and snowboarders, and Torched Peaks was founded by a former professional snowboarder with more than 15 years of ski-industry experience, including designing and building actual ski trails and terrain parks.

It's all part of SlopeTheory™—our approach to understanding what makes a mountain distinctive before turning it into art.

Each piece is made from precision-cut layers of natural wood that are hand-assembled into a dimensional relief map. The layered construction creates depth, texture, and shadow that brings ski resort landscapes to life on your wall.

Absolutely! Torched Peaks ski resort wall art is designed to bring the character of a favorite mountain into the spaces where mountain memories live. Natural wood, carefully selected stain colors, dimensional terrain, and intricate mountain details create a refined piece of artwork that works in everything from an everyday home to a mountain cabin or ski house.

Our maps are also displayed in luxury hotels, vacation properties, resort spaces, real estate offices, and other gathering places where they often become conversation pieces—giving people a reason to stop, study the mountain, find favorite runs, and share stories.
